Given that former Rainbow Six: Siege Game Director Simon Larouche joined Guerrilla in 2018, hopes remain high that the Netherlands-based studio will eventually return to its FPS roots. And employee information found on LinkedIn suggests Horizon and Killzone creator Guerrilla Games began work on a secret PlayStation title more than three years ago. Unsubstantiated rumors about the hopeful return of SOCOM have swirled around for a while, too. It's possible that Bungie will lend its expertise to one of these projects. Many may recall the publisher also inked a deal last year with Deviation Games, the team founded by former Call of Duty: Black Ops developers who currently have their hands full with a new multiplayer-focused IP for PlayStation. One such game is the long-awaited Last of Us Factions multiplayer suite, a standalone adventure that's yet to receive formal details outside of subtle teases and Naughty Dog job listings. There already exist a few noteworthy projects that PlayStation may have internally labeled as live service experiences. When these efforts will finally come to bear presently remains a mystery, as well. Most notably, Ryan told the publication that PlayStation Studios' live service roadmap is " aggressive," but would not offer much in the way of concrete details. IllFonic included a roadmap with Arcadegeddon’s early access release to let the gaming community know what to expect between then and full launch in early 2022. Notably, PlayStation partnered with IllFonic again for Arcadegeddon, an arcadey multiplayer shooter presently in early access. Second-party partnerships have similarly allowed PlayStation to explore persistent online gaming, particularly with the likes of IllFonic's Predator: Hunting Grounds, which remains a PC and PS4-only experience. Before the live service term entered the vernacular, for instance, PS3 had MAG, the appropriately titled massive action game developed by SOCOM studio Zipper Interactive. To a certain extent, Sony has dabbled in the live service space in the past.
